A gentleman's twin screw diesel yacht of great character, La Chiquita was specially commissioned as one of the last designs from the board of John Bain of Silver Yachts. She was built by A.H. Denton of East Horsley in 1971 of iroko on iroko frames and double diagonal planked, with 3/4" teak decks on marine ply. The hull was Cascover treated from new, giving excellent protection to the wood under an impenetrable layer bonded to the hull under pressure. Beams are iroko. This classic yacht is offered "as seen" after a year of outdoor storage at Pwllheli, North Wales GB. Road transport can be organised. Replacement masts are available at the yard at a price to be discussed.

Engines Twin 70hp Parsons Porbeagle diesels gave a maximum cruising speed of 10 knots and a cruising speed of 7 knots, consuming approximately one gallon per hour in total. One engine removed but two spare engines are included in sale. Two hydraulic Parsons type P1226 2B reducing gear boxes. Two 24 x 16 Propellers. Two 1.75" stainless steel propeller shafts, new in 1996. Morse controls. Fuel tanks 200 gallons [909 litres].

Electrics12v, 24v and 240 v shore power. Switches and control panel.

Accomodation Interior now stripped-out, originally six berths in three cabins: V-berths in forepeak, two in main saloon and a double berth in the aft cabin. Main saloon incorporated D-shaped seating around the main table to port, with settee and lockers to starboard and more than 1,8m headroom. Galley to port with Webasto diesel-fired warm air heating. Water tanks held 200 gallons. There is a vacuum cleaner.

Deck gear Francis Marine anchor winch; Bruce anchor; Danforth anchor; approximately 300 ft of chain; Spreader mounted deck-lights on both masts; three electrical and one manual bilge pumps.

La Chiquita has been a yacht of impeccable breeding, cruised by her owners in the Mediterranean, Irish and Scottish waters. Her original heavy construction will justify a major restoration. Currently on the hard at Hafan Pwllheli, North Wales, with lifting and road transport readily available.
